As is the case with many breweries, Ridgewalker was born out of little more than a love of beer and a dream of something better. Like many home brewers, Justin and Storm had entertained the idea of opening their own brewery, and serving beer to fellow lovers of the craft, and when the opportunity presented itself to turn this dream into an idea; they seized upon it, and turned that idea into reality.
Justin and Storm first met in 5th grade at the Forest Grove School District’s main office, during the annual spelling bee district finals. Taking first and second, they began a friendship which led through high school and college. During summer breaks, the two of them began brewing their own beer together, and in a manner familiar to both of them, began obsessing over the quality and character of their product. Sharing new techniques and methods and becoming more and more familiar with the science of the process, their beer transitioned from drinkable, to decent, to a product that they would be proud to offer to others.
After college, the two of them became roommates with another member of Ridgewalker, Jason, who by virtue of being a close friend for many years, had seen their passion for brewing, and heard the many wild dreams about opening their own brewery someday. At this time, Storm left on a five month hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, hiking from Mexico to Canada across the ridges of the Sierra Nevada, the many ranges of southern California, and the volcanic Cascades of Oregon and Washington, providing ample time for him to think about that brewery he’d always wanted to open. Upon his return, he and Justin began brewing again.
Seeing this, Jason then brought up the possibility of making the brewery happen, and asked what was stopping us from turning this hobby into something real. This prompted a more serious discussion between Justin and Storm, who began brewing more regularly, and developing recipes that could be duplicated, and tracked in such a way that they would result in a real, saleable product. A name had to be selected, and in the spirit of their many travels in the mountains of Oregon and along the Pacific Crest Trail, Ridgewalker was chosen.
Shortly thereafter, Jason’s brother Chris was brought on as someone who could navigate the series of licenses, taxes, and certifications needed to turn two guys making beer into a legitimate operation. All four of the members of what would eventually become Ridgewalker then began the painful process of turning that concept into a brewery. Justin and Storm continued to brew new styles, and refined old styles, while Jason converted a garage into a location where a small commercial brewhouse could be installed. Chris continued to hammer away at the local, state and federal agencies, bringing Ridgewalker to the point where we not only could make beer, we could sell it.
That brings us to today, where despite many obstacles and the occasional setback, Ridgewalker Brewing Company exists as one of only a few breweries in Washington County, and is well on the way to occupying a space in Forest Grove, the city in which this all began. Ridgewalker’s one barrel brewhouse produce a regular output of beer to local taprooms and restaurants, and the craft continues to be refined while they continue on their way.
Justin Marble serves as our Head Brewer. He brings the creativity and inspiration to the brewing process.
Justin began home brewing during his college days. Inspired by the craft brewing culture around him, he spent many hours creating recipes that evolved into what Ridgewalker produces today. If he is not working on our pilot brewing system, Justin spends most of his time outdoors. Whether he is backpacking with Storm, or chasing a power kite down the coast line with Jason, Justin is a true Oregon outdoors man. Be sure to meet up with Justin at any of our events. He loves talking beer, business, and edible plants.

Storm has lived in Montana, Taiwan, Virginia, Iraq, and Oregon and he has decided to call the Northwest home. He is a veteran not only of the Army National Guard, but also of the infamous Pacific Crest Trail. Storm enjoys long walks on the beach but would settle for a long walk through the desert and mountains if a beach was not available.
Rocking a beard and also looking good in Ray Bans, Storm is the Beer-Meister. If anyone needs a beer, they go to him. On a serious note, he is an excellent brewer and a brainiac. Talk to him if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.

What would we do without him?! The man has great ideas. It's just annoying because we all wish we could think of those ideas first!
Chris is an electrician by day, and a businessman by... all the rest of the time. He eats, drinks, and breathes business. None of us are sure if he actually loves accounting, or if he is just incredibly selfless and has heroically saved us the headache. He loves dark beers and was understandably excited when we first tapped our Oatmeal Stout. Storm and Justin vow to make an IPA lover out of him one day...
I over see finances and projects. I help bring continuity to our group by knowing very little about beer and asking a lot of really dumb questions.

Ever ready for a challenge, Jason is the most likely the hardest working individual you will ever meet. Giving our ideas substance is Jason's primary role in the brewery. If it needs to get done, we go to Jason. He is an excellent problem solver; so much so that we all postulate he was born inside a Rubik's cube. If he's not solving problems, you might find him jet skiing, snowboarding, or playing indoor soccer.
